Whether it be the due to the fact that consuming such genres of media induces adrenaline within a person, books on mysteries and crime thrillers with assassination attempts and other exciting stories are sure to be a hit!
One of many is Bruce N. After working in a fast-paced environment (specifically Wall Street), his new career venture is everything that he wishes for! Little does he know, though, that this new job will lead him down smack in the middle of a series of dangerous situations such as assassination attempts, government stings, and run-ins with deranged mob bosses.
Does it sound like the kind of book you would read? Then you should definitely get a copy of the book! While curling up at home with a good book such as “Quinn’s Dilemma” sounds like a perfect day, with the hustle and bustle that goes on in everyone’s daily lives, most of the time, people need to multitask to get through the day. So, if you’re one of us who are always on the go, we’re here to give you true crime podcasts that you should listen to:
Sistas Who Kill: A True Crime Podcast (2020)
Best friends MaRah and Taz host a podcast that deep-dives into Black female killers from an interesting angle: that the justice system treats them very differently compared to white female murderers. With its unique point of view, “Sistas Who Kill” has become so popular that the two best friends now do this podcast full-time! “Sistas Who Kill” is available on iTunes, Spotify, Audible, Everand, and iHeartRadio.
Root of Evil (2019)
“Root of Evil” is hosted by Rasha Pecoraro and Yvette Gentile. The podcast is an offshoot of the TNT drama “I Am the Night,” whose story revolves around the infamous 1947 unsolved Black Dahlia murder. Rasha and Yvette are the great- granddaughters of George Handel, who they believed to have committed the crime. For people who are into noir and moody detective novels, Root of Evil can be heard on the following platforms: iTunes, Pandora, Podbean, iHeartRadio and Spotify.
Morbid (2018)
A lighthearted take on such a heavy act (which is murder!), Alaina Urquhart, an autopsy tech, and her niece, Ash Kelley, who is a hairdresser, are the hosts of this show. Every week, Alaina and Ash pick a famous true crime story and dive right into them. “Morbid” is on iTunes, Spotify, Amazon Music, Wondery, and Pandora.
In the Dark (2016)
A podcast that bills itself as a long-form Investigative Journalism, “In the Dark” deep dives into cases that the host Madeleine Baran (from The New Yorker) sees that they had unsatisfactory conclusions or that they are in need of more attention. With top-notch reporting and a suspenseful build-up of its narrative, this podcast is best for fans of New Yorker-like profiles and deep dives into a single subject. “In the Dark” is available on iTunes, Spotify, iHeartRadio, Audible, and Pandora.
Suspect (2021)
“Suspect” is a podcast that examines cases of when the justice system broke down and reconsidered decisions by attorneys, detectives, jurors, and others that led to miscarriages. Hosted by Ashley Fants and Matthew Sharer, “Suspect” is the kind of podcast that people whose thoughts often go “what if?” You can listen to this podcast on iTunes, Wondery, Spotify, Amazon Music, and Audible.
With all that said and shared with you, the precious reader, we know that you share the same thoughts as us: while podcasts are a wonderful form of entertainment, crime and thriller books have a certain type of magic that brings colorful images into our minds!
